Volunteers help clean up area parks for Earth Day

BOSTON — More than 100 volunteers from the International WeLoveU Foundation teamed up with the city of Boston's Parks and Rec Department to tidy up some of the city's green spaces in honor of Earth Day.

About 110 bags of trash were cleared from Blackstone and Franklin Square Parks.

It's part of an effort to raise awareness of the importance of environmental protection in the face of climate change.

Volunteers who participated came from the New England region including Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, and Massachusetts.
