U.S. Coast Guard still searching for 3 missing sailors off Northern Maine

SOMES SOUND, Maine — The U.S. Coast Guard is still searching for three missing sailors who haven't been spotted since Saturday when they sailed from Somes Sound, Maine.

Charlotte Kirby, Nathaniel Davis, and Wilfredo Lombardo were on a 40-foot sailboat named Dove, which officials said is homeported at the John Williams Boat Company on Mount Desert island, Maine.

On Sunday, rescue air crews searched roughly 2,700 square nautical miles with a plane from Air Station Cape Cod.

Rescue crews from Station Southwest Harbor, Air Station Cape Cod, and the Canadian Coast Guard began searching on Saturday.
