Two suspects at large, two arrested after AK-47 thrown from car in Everett

EVERETT, Mass. — Two people are at large, with two others in custody, after fleeing a traffic stop in Everett and throwing a bag with an AK-47 from their vehicle. The car later crashed on Route 99 shortly after.

Law enforcement attempted to pull over the vehicle for driving without headlights on. After that attempt, Everett Police say a gym bag was thrown from the vehicle that, upon retrieval, was found to contain an AK-47 rifle reported stolen from out of state. Other weapons were also recovered from the vehicle.

Officials from Massachusetts State Police, Everett Police and the MBTA Police Department were on hand searching for the two suspects, who escaped after fleeing behind a McDonald’s on Broadway.

The two suspects who were apprehended face multiple counts firearm violations as well as resisting arrest. Both men, 30-year-old Rashad Odom and 20-year-old Angelo Guimares were arraigned Friday. Odom was ordered held without bail and is due back on Feb. 13. Guimares was ordered held on $1,500 bail with conditions of GPS monitoring and a 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. curfew.

The car the suspects were allegedly traveling in was towed from the scene.
