Walgreens offering $25 incentive to new COVID-19 vaccine recipients

Walgreens is trying to sweeten the pot for anyone still on the fence about getting a COVID-19 vaccine.

One of the nation’s two largest drugstore chains confirmed Tuesday that it will provide $25 in store credit to anyone who gets inoculated there against the coronavirus between now and Saturday, USA Today reported.

Patrons may either have the $25 credit loaded onto their myWalgreens account, or the chain will issue non-cardholders a $25 Walgreens gift card.

According to USA Today, the move comes as COVID-19 vaccine incentives sweep the nation, including giveaways at rival drugstore chain CVS, state-run million-dollar sweepstakes and free food or drinks from an array of restaurants, USA Today reported.

CVS announced in May that people who get a COVID-19 vaccination through CVS Health could enter sweepstakes for a chance to win one of several prizes, including free cruises, vacations or a VIP trip to Super Bowl LVI, KTLA reported.

Children between the ages of 12 and 15 who receive a COVID-19 vaccine at Walgreens are not eligible to collect the incentive, but their parents or guardians are, USA Today reported.

The Walgreens incentive is not available in Arkansas, New York or New Jersey.
