Uber driver arrested after hitting, killing passenger with car, police say

TULSA, Okla. — A man is dead after getting hit by his Uber driver in Oklahoma early Friday morning.

Tulsa police said the driver Omar Baabbad and the man -- his passenger -- got into some kind of altercation in the car.

Investigators said the passenger got out of the car and then Baabbad hit him with it, saying the man had threatened him with a gun.

Police said witnesses told them the victim was trying to walk away, saying he felt threatened but never showed any kind of weapon before he was hit. The victim was taken to a hospital where he died.

Officers didn’t find a gun at the scene.

Baabbad was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
