According to KXAS and WFAA, the incident occurred Friday near the Fort Worth Police Department’s Northwest station on North Main Street. Officer R. Salazar heard a woman yelling outside while he was attending a virtual meeting inside the building, the department wrote in a Facebook post.

“He went outside and observed a black vehicle with the doors open,” the post read. “When he approached the vehicle, he observed an adult female in active labor.”

Salazar quickly called local fire and emergency crews for help, but the baby apparently was not interested in waiting, police said.

“Prior to their arrival, Officer Salazar helped deliver the baby boy,” read the post, which included a photo of Salazar smiling next to the woman and her newborn.

Crews took the new mom and baby to a nearby hospital, where they received “routine treatment,” the department said.
