Target and CVS to require masks nationwide

Target and CVS Pharmacy says it will require all customers to wear masks or face coverings at all of their locations across the country.

Target told USA Today that all guests will be asked to wear a mask starting August 1. If a guest does not have a mask, the company said it will provide disposable masks at the entrance of the store. Those with underlying medical conditions and young children will not be required to wear a mask.

Most Target stores currently require masks due to local and state regulations, according to a statement obtained by CNN

CVS Pharmacy will also require a mask before entering a store starting Monday, July 20.

The two retailers are the latest to require a mask due to the threat of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

On Wednesday, Kroger, Walmart and Sam’s Club joined Apple Store, Best Buy, Costco, Dollar Tree, Starbucks and others major retailers that will require a mask before entering its store.

More than 3.4 million cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the U.S. since the pandemic began, according to numbers compiled by Johns Hopkins University. The U.S. leads the world with the most coronavirus cases and the highest number of deaths with 136,000 killed by the viral infection, according to Johns Hopkins.
