PITTSBURGH — Ben Roethlisberger, quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, will not play in Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions after being placed on the COVID-19 reserve list, WPXI reported.
Team spokesperson Burt Lauten confirmed the personnel tweak via Twitter on Saturday night.
STATUS UPDATE: #Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger will be placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list and is OUT for Sunday’s game vs. the Detroit Lions.

Steelers officials have not yet confirmed if Roethlisberger, who has stated publicly that he is vaccinated against the virus, has tested positive for COVID-19 or if he has exhibited any virus symptoms, WPXI reported.

If vaccinated, Roethlisberger will be allowed to return after generating a pair of negative COVID-19 tests at least 24 hours apart. If he’s not vaccinated, the quarterback will miss at least 10 days, NBC Sports reported.
Mason Rudolph will start at quarterback for the Steelers on Sunday, WPXI reported.
