Beatrice Martinez said her $200 Christmas decoration was stolen on the afternoon of Dec. 14, the San Antonio Express-News reported. Martinez said her surveillance camera showed a truck pull up to her yard, and thieves getting out of the vehicle and stealing Jack Frost.

“It wasn’t until the afternoon when we plug everything in and have everything lit up when we realized it was missing,” Martinez told the newspaper.

Martinez decided to post a notice on her Nextdoor group to warn others.

“Well, it was nice while it lasted,” Martinez wrote in her original Nextdoor post. “Our 20-foot inflatable snowman was stolen early Monday morning from our front yard. We have footage but it’s too dark to see anything other than the thief was in a truck. Also, they knew to turn around .. to avoid the construction work. Our apologies to the little neighbors who love to come out in the evening to enjoy our Christmas display, we are in the process of recruiting another snowman from the North Pole and hope to operate as usual as soon as possible. Merry Christmas.”

Apparently, Martinez was not alone. One resident shared how her Whataburger-inspired display was missing a 2-by-4-foot sign. Rachel Mondragon said she captured a would-be thief unplugging her inflatable decorations and fleeing after being warned police were on their way.

“I didn’t think I was going to get the response that I did,” Martinez told the Express-News. “I didn’t realize how many people this is happening to.”

Patty Gibbons, president of the Greater Harmony Hills Neighborhood Association, offered a $100 donation to help replace the snowman.

“It was upsetting for my husband and me. The kids were sad, but that doesn’t stop us from enjoying this time of year,” Martinez told the the Express-News. “We’re still looking forward to Christmas and spending time with our families.”
