The Daily Beast, which first reported news of the abortion on Monday, said it had agreed not to reveal details of the woman’s identity to protect her privacy, according to The Associated Press.

But after Walker, 60, the former University of Georgia running back and the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in Georgia, denied the story and called the allegation a “flat-out lie,” The Daily Beast on Wednesday reported that the woman was so well known to Walker that, according to her, they conceived another child.

Walker has expressed his support for a national abortion ban without exceptions.

He threatened to sue The Daily Beast and said he did not know who the woman might be, according to the AP.

Interviewed on Fox News on Wednesday morning, Walker said he had not figured out the woman’s identity, according to The Daily Beast.

“Not at all,” Walker said. “And that’s what I hope everyone can see. It’s sort of like everyone is anonymous, or everyone is leaking, and they want you to confess to something you have no clue about.”

The woman told The Daily Beast that she was not surprised by Walker’s denials.

“Sure, I was stunned, but I guess it also doesn’t shock me, that maybe there are just so many of us that he truly doesn’t remember,” the woman told the website. “But then again, if he really forgot about it, that says something, too.”

On Monday, The Daily Beast published a story that alleged Walker encouraged the woman to have an abortion after she became pregnant, The Washington Post reported. Walker allegedly wrote the woman a $700 check and then sent her a get-well card, according to The Daily Beast report.

“I send money to a lot of people,” Walker told Fox News’ commentator Sean Hannity when asked about the check. “I believe in being generous.”

The Daily Beast said the Walker campaign declined to comment on Wednesday’s story. Walker is scheduled to make a public appearance Thursday morning in Wadley, Georgia, according to the AP.
