According to a news release from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, Almondy initiated a recall of a limited quantity of its Almondy Chocolate Cake with Daim in a 14.1-ounce package after a metal object was discovered.

The products are being recalled as a precautionary measure, the company said.

All cakes in batch No. L2140, with a “best by” date of Nov. 18, 2023, was recalled, the FDA stated.

The cakes were only distributed at IKEA stores, according to the FDA. It is unclear how many cakes were impacted by the recall.

“We have done a root cause analysis and identified that the metal object is from the equipment in our bakery, and it came into the cake during the production process,” Almondy Quality Director Margareta Johannesson wrote in an email to the Miami Herald. “We have identified what measures to take to prevent this from happening again.”

Almondy is urging consumers who may have bought the product to either return to the IKEA store where it was purchased for a full refund, or to contact the company on its website, www.almondy.com.
