Police: 4 dogs die in car while woman ate at Florida restaurant

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — A Missouri woman is accused of leaving four dogs in her vehicle that died despite the air conditioning running while she ate at a Florida restaurant, authorities said.

Tesia C. White, 25, of Gainesville, was arrested Thursday and charged with four counts of animal cruelty, according to Volusia County Sheriff’s Office online booking records.

According to the New Smyrna Beach Police Department, White left a 4-year-old Goldendoodle, two Goldendoodle puppies and a 2-year-old boxer inside her vehicle with the air conditioning running and the windows rolled up.

Police said the dogs were found dead around 1:30 p.m. EDT while White ate lunch at the restaurant, WFTV reported.

According to police, White allegedly checked on the dogs one time while she ate her meal, but found all four animals dead after she finished her meal about an hour later, the television station reported.

White was arrested and booked at the Volusia County Jail, online records show. Bail was set at $10,000.
