Sorry, fans of the Archie Comics universe: Netflix has decided to cancel "Riverdale" spinoff "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina."
According to Variety, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed the news in a statement Wednesday, less than a week after the CW canceled another "Riverdale" spinoff, "Katy Keene."
"Working on 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' has been an incredible honor from Day One," Aguirre-Sacasa said of the show, a reimagining of the "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" comic book series. "The cast, beginning with Kiernan [Shipka] as everyone's favorite teen witch, has been an absolute joy. I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show."
Netflix will air the final installment of the series, which includes eight episodes, sometime this year, TVLine reported.
"It all comes down to one last Chilling Adventure," the show's official Twitter account wrote Wednesday night. "Our final chapter is coming later this year. Coven forever."
