Baton Rouge police told The Advocate that they were initially called out to a report of a woman “laying in the middle of the road with a baby on top of her.”

Paramedics and firefighters got to the scene before police, and said they found Rachel Myles pushing a stroller through traffic, WBRZ reported. When they tried to get her out of the road, officials said Myles began to run with the stroller, causing the child, who was not properly secured, to nearly fall out.

Officers with the Baton Rouge Police Department told WVLA that vehicles were forced to slam on their brakes so as not to hit Myles or the stroller.

Arrest documents obtained by WBRZ describe Myles as homeless and say that she also assaulted emergency crews on the scene before police took her into custody.

At the jail, Myles allegedly refused to give fingerprints or be photographed, WBRZ reported.

Myles was charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated obstruction of a highway, battery of emergency personnel and misrepresentation during booking, The Advocate reported.

A police spokesperson told The Advocate that Child Protection Services are involved in the case.
