According to officials with the Los Angeles Police Department, the shooting occurred at around 11:30 p.m., and responding officers found the victim lying in a planter at an apartment complex in the 700 block of South New Hampshire Avenue, KABC-TV reported.

The victim, whose legal name is Latauriisha O’Brien, was pronounced dead at the scene, the TV station reported.

Police and family members confirmed to KTLA-TV that the rapper was walking home with a friend when someone in a dark SUV pulled up and started shooting. The friend escaped unharmed.

According to KTLA, O’Brien is the third rapper shot on the streets of Los Angeles County in less than a month. PnB Rock was shot to death in South L.A. on Sept. 12, and Kee Riches was shot Sept. 24 in Compton.

Family members told KABC that O’Brien was a father to three children between the ages of 8 years and 9 months and his wife is pregnant with their fourth.

The rapper’s mother told KTLA that her son was also working at UPS and attending UEI College, where he was studying heating and air conditioning so that he could open his own business.

The shooter is described as a man wearing dark clothing. No arrests have been made, KABC reported.
