According to rapper Kanye West, what else can he be?

West, 44, filed court documents on Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court to legally change his name from Kanye Omari West to his longtime two-letter nickname, Ye, People reported.

According to court documents, West cited “personal reasons” for the petition, KCBS reported. A judge must approve the name change before it becomes official.

West has wanted to change his name since 2018, tweeting that “the being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE.”

At the time, West spoke to radio host Big Boy and said the two-letter name also had a religious significance, People reported.

“I believe ‘Ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible, it means ‘you,’” West said, referring to his self-named album’s title. “So I’m you, I’m us, it’s us. It went from ‘Kanye,’ which means the only one, to just Ye -- just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confusion, everything. The album is more of a reflection of who we are.”

On Friday, West will host the third stadium-sized listening party for his upcoming album “Donda” at Soldier Field in his hometown of Chicago, Variety reported.
