Illinois woman accused of hitting husband with pan because he wouldn’t wash the dishes

DECATUR, Ill. — An Illinois woman is facing a preliminary domestic battery charge after police said she struck her husband with a pan because he wouldn't wash the dishes.

According to the Herald-Review, Decatur police arrested the 47-year-old woman shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday after the pair had argued about cleaning the house.

The man said the dispute began after he returned home about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the police report. His wife, angry that he had not washed the dishes or cleaned, began shouting at him, he told the responding officer.

After the husband "told her he wasn't going to wash the dishes or clean the house," the woman "threw water on him and hit him in the middle of his forehead with a dirty pan," read the report obtained by the Herald-Review.

The man suffered a 1-inch laceration, as well as pain and swelling, according to the police report.

The woman, who wasn't identified by name in the Herald-Review report, was booked at the Macon County Jail and later released on $300 bond.
