SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida man shot a neighbor’s 6-month-old Labrador retriever puppy after it cornered his Chihuahua, police said.
Anthony Bain, 29, shot the dog, named Charlie, in the snout Aug. 8, after it had pinned one of his dogs under a truck, WEAR reported.
Bain tried to call Charlie over, however, he said the dog snapped and began acting aggressively. Bain shot him, then left the house.
Charlie was taken to a veterinarian where a .22 bullet was found in his throat.
Bain was arrested and charged with animal cruelty Wednesday, according to jail records. He was released on $2,500 bond.
