BATON ROUGE, La. — Charges were upgraded against a Louisiana woman seen beating her 93-year-old mother repeatedly with a belt in a video shared on social media.
In a short video, Lottie Morgan, 57, is seen beating the woman inside a home earlier this month.
Morgan is the woman’s caregiver.
Family member Lenny Morgan recorded the video and indicated his mother is beating his grandmother, WAFB reported.
Lottie Morgan was arrested Jan. 12 and charged with cruelty to people with infirmities, WAFB reported. She was released after posting $1,500 bond and returned to the same home as the grandmother she is accused of beating.
On Thursday, the East Baton Rouge District Attorney added an additional battery charge. Officials also filed a motion to increase Morgan’s bail and change conditions to include a protective order, WBRZ reported.
