According to the Leader-Telegram, the Irvine Park Zoo in Chippewa Falls said the foal was born Sept. 11.

John Jimenez, the city’s parks director, said he and zoo staff members had suspected the newborn’s mother was pregnant, “but we weren’t 100% sure,” the newspaper reported.

But if you want to see the baby, you’ll have to visit the zoo by the end of the month, Jimenez told the newspaper. That’s when zebras are removed from the zoo, which receives its animals from Neshkoro-based Animal Entertainments, and placed in warmer habitats as the weather gets colder, he said.

Jimenez said he hopes the baby and other zebras will return to the zoo in the spring, according to the Leader-Telegram.

According to the Friends of Irvine Park Zoo website, the park spans 318 acres and includes several animals, including tigers, cougars, bears and deer.
