Texas man hanging Christmas lights with son dies after fall

A Texas man died Saturday after he fell while hanging Christmas lights for a client, authorities said.

Felipe Gallegos, 39, of Rhome, fell from a roof Saturday night while hanging the decorations with his 17-year-old son, KXAS reported. According to the Tarrant County medical examiner, Gallegos suffered a skull and chest fracture. He was pronounced dead at an area hospital, the television station reported.

Gallegos and his wife ran a business hanging Christmas lights and also washed windows professionally, WFAA reported.

“He was just an all-around great person,” Gallegos’ wife, Alisha Flick, told the television station. “He always had a smile on his face, and he was always goofy and he was always making everybody laugh.”

Flick told WFAA she was working with her son in the front yard of a home while Gallegos worked in the backyard.

“And then we heard something, and I got out and I went over there, and he was laying on the concrete,” Flick told the television station. “He was saying, ‘Help me, help me,' and so I called 911.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with funeral expenses, and more than $40,000 has been raised.
