CHESAPEAKE, Va. — The world awaits a Virginia teen.

Malique Hawkins, 17, can go to his choice of colleges after being accepted to 15 out of 16 schools to which he applied, WAVY reported.

The high school senior from Chesapeake, Virginia, also has more than $1.2 million in scholarships waiting for him.

"Excellence is the standard," Hawkins told WVEC. "Mediocrity is unacceptable and failure is not an option."

Hawkins told WVEC he learned that in kindergarten and 12 years later, he is living up to it still.

Hawkins has a 4.4 GPA, plays varsity basketball, is a class office delegate and was voted homecoming king.

He also scored 1440 on his SAT, according to WVEC.

"I do like being busy. I don't like being at home doing nothing. I feel like there's always something to do," Hawkins told WAVY.

In his spare time, he also is an actor, owns his own clothing line business, runs two YouTube channels and is a public speaker.

Hawkins said he wants to leave a positive mark on society.

"I've always talked about things with social injustice, racism, suicide, bullying that's going on in our world. I want people to know about these things and are aware of it," Hawkins told WAVY.

Hawkins has narrowed his list from 15 schools down to his top four, University of Miami, High Point University, North Carolina A&T or Georgia Tech.

He hopes to manage either a sports or entertainment company once he graduates, WAVY reported.
