Sheriff: Texas driver who hit boy at school bus stop said she had to use bathroom

Texas woman cited for allegedly running school bus stop sign, hitting child

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — An 8-year-old boy getting off his school bus in Texas suffered a fractured arm Friday when he was struck by a driver who ignored the bus' sign and stop lights, authorities said.

According to a tweet by the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, the driver told deputies she disregarded the sign and lights because she needed to go to the bathroom.

The incident occurred at 4 p.m., KHOU reported. The boy was a student at Patterson Elementary School in Richmond, the television station reported.

The driver was cited for disregarding the bus' warning signals, the Sheriff's Office wrote on its Facebook page.
