Huntington Beach Oktoberfest explosions: 4 hurt, including 2 firefighters, in California blasts

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — At least four people were injured, including two firefighters, Saturday night amid electrical explosions at an Oktoberfest event in California, multiple news outlets are reporting.

According to KNBC-TV and the Orange County Register, the Huntington Beach Fire Department responded to the city's Old World Village about 8:20 p.m. following reports of an electrical fire, officials said. A blast occurred as crews, who were trying to find the source of the blaze, opened an underground vault on Center Avenue, authorities said.

Bystanders told the news outlets that they witnessed three explosions. Authorities evacuated the area, according to the Register.

Fire Department Battalion Chief Jeff Lopez described the victims' injuries as minor, the Register reported.

Officials said they are still investigating the incident, according to the newspaper.
