Donate to Georgia women's shelter and you could win a $400K house

ATLANTA — For a $25 donation, you could start the new year in a $400,000 home in Georgia.

From now through Jan. 3, 2020, donations to help build a new women and children's shelter will enter you in a sweepstakes to win a new home near downtown Atlanta.

The Atlanta Mission has partnered with Brock Built Homes and Underpriced Furniture for the "Building Hope & a Future Dream Home Sweepstakes," which wants to raise $1,000,000 toward the multimillion-dollar project.

The Brock Built home is in the West Highlands community, within walking distance of the planned Westside Reservoir Park five miles northwest of Atlanta City Hall. In addition to the house, you'll win $6,000 in furniture from Underpriced Furniture.

Last year, more than 4,000 women and children sought help at Atlanta Mission, its website states, but the current shelter has beds for only about 900. The new Ethel Street Shelter would be able to provide services for more than 4,500, plus add 100 more shelter beds.

Although you don’t have to give money to enter the sweepstakes, your donation will help Atlanta’s homeless women and children.

There are five donation categories:

• $25: provides two sweepstakes entries, and one night of shelter and day services.
• $50: provides five sweepstakes entries, and two nights of shelter and day services.
• $75: provides seven sweepstakes entries, and three nights of shelter and day services.
• $100: provides 10 sweepstakes entries, and four nights of shelter and day services.
• Other: Any donation amount will provide essential services and care. Sweepstakes entries will be based on tiers above.

Donations can be made online, with a limit of 50 entries per person.

Should you win the grand prize package but decide you just don’t want a house, there is a cash option. You can choose to get a check for $200,000, plus the $6,000 in furniture.
