One person was taken to a hospital after the shooting to undergo emergency abdominal surgery, the newspaper reported.

Trenton police Capt. Stephen Varn told reporters five men and five women were hit by gunfire outside Ramoneros Liquor & Bar shortly before 12:30 a.m.

Varn did not know the conditions of the other shooting victims, the Trentonian reported.

The shooting was the biggest in Trenton since last June’s incident at the Art All Night festival. which resulted in the death of one of the suspects and injuries to 22 people, 17 of whom were struck by gunfire, WPVI reported.

Trenton City Councilman Jerell Blakeley said he was outraged by the violence.

“This is kind of carnage shouldn’t be normal,” Blakeley wrote on Facebook. “Too often when the weather breaks, violence rears its ugly head in this city.

“I’m sick and tired of this city not being able to enjoy a nice spring day without the prospect of absolute mayhem and carnage committed by a dissolute and wicked few.”
