CHATHAM, Mass. — At the Chatham Bars Inn, singing concierge Rich Fromm may know the lyrics to Escaping the Cape, but the truth is, there's no place he'd rather be.
Fromm says there's no place in Massachusetts like the Cape and on the Cape, there's no place like Chatham.
"Not a lot of towns have this; where there's a downtown Main Street within a 10-minute walk to this body of water," said Fromm.
It's home to a few dozen of the Inn's neighbors. Fromm says the seals are just one of the dozens of sights just a stone's throw from the Inn.
"You can actually walk down Main Street; shop, eat, have a great lunch. Come down Shore Road. Have the view that you get down Shore Road. Come out here, literally go out into the ocean, have a whale watch, a fishing trip, whatever you want to do," said Fromm.
What we wanted to do was decided for us. After all, who can resist a store that beckons you in with a little retail therapy set to music?
"Good music playing, and friendly people and energetic things going on and bright colors," said April Cabral, owner of Sundance Clothing.
It's a destination boutique on Main Street where Cabral says she carries the kind vacation keepsake, you actually want to keep.
Cabral prides herself on creating the type of shop that keeps people coming back, and she says all of Chatham is that way.
"You wouldn't think in a tourist town you'd see so many familiar faces, but our customers in all the stores, up and down the street, every single store has customers who are here every single summer. Every weekend," said Cabral.
And to put it simply, she says there's one reason why.
"Chatham's an amazing town."
