“I would like to acknowledge the deep sadness that is felt by everyone who knew and loved Rhonda and will continue to deeply mourn her senseless and tragic death 11 days ago in Las Vegas,” Ball said.

Rhonda and Jason LeRocque had been married for 21 years and had a 6-year-0ld daughter. They, along with Jason’s father, were in Las Vegas on a family vacation at the time of the shooting.

“Rhonda and I had dropped Ali off to my father, returned to the festival, and shortly after that gunshots began,” Ball said. “Rhonda was among those who were hit very early on.”

According to the statement, Rhonda was able to receive help fairly quickly.

“Thanks to the heroic efforts of a few individuals, we could get (Rhonda) to the trauma center while she was still breathing.”

A few hours later, however, Rhonda was pronounced dead.

“I was with her the entire time,” Ball said on behalf of Jason.

The statement described Rhonda LeRocque as a special daughter, sister and friend who will be missed by her family, as well as her spiritual family.

“People who had the privilege to know Rhonda would only describe her as the happiest, most caring sweet and self-sacrificing person you would ever know,” Ball said.

The family said Rhonda and her husband took pride in helping disaster victims in Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida and Jamaica.

“Words cannot properly describe the loss we feel and the emptiness Rhonda’s death leaves in all of us,” Ball said. “We are heartened, however, by the vast outpouring of love, support, tenderness and the giving we have seen literally since the moment those horrific shots started.”

A wake for Rhonda will be held Friday, and a public memorial service will be held on Saturday morning at Tewksbury High School.
