Swimmer hospitalized after being struck by boat in Wareham

WAREHAM, Mass. — A swimmer was hospitalized after being struck by a boat in Bourne Cove on Sunday morning, according to a release from the Wareham Department of Natural Resources.

The victim sustained "extensive injuries" from the boat propeller. First-responders administered life-saving first aid to the victim to control the bleeding before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital. The incident occurred around 11:45 a.m.

The operator of the boat helped tend to the victim's wounds before first-responders arrived, according to the release. That person also remained on scene following the arrival of officials.

No identities were released by authorities, though they did say that foul play was not suspected. The Massachusetts Environmental Police is investigating the incident.
