The resident said they felt the attack possibly come from a coyote, and responding officers were unable to find the animal that was responsible.

The dog was taken to the veterinary hospital, where he had to be humanely euthanized.

Police are warning residents about the incident to ensure the safety of children and other animals, and said to be careful watching any animals late in the evening and early in the morning when coyotes are more active.
