Study: Massachusetts marijuana prices slightly above national average

People who purchase marijuana in Massachusetts will be paying slightly above the national average, according to a recent study on the average price of marijuana by state.

Oxford Treatment Center used the Price of Weed, a global price index for marijuana, to gather the average price of high and medium-quality marijuana in each state. Researchers also looked at the prices for one ounce of marijuana and one joint, which a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services study defines as being equal to 0.66 grams of pot.

Data highlights:

Average Cost: One Ounce of High-Quality Marijuana
  • Most expensive: 597.88 (Washington, D.C.)
  • Massachusetts: $341
  • Least Expensive:  210.75 (Oregon)
  • National Average: $326.06
Average Cost: One Ounce of Medium-Quality Marijuana
  • Most Expensive: $550.66 (Washington, D.C.)
  • Massachusetts: $283
  • Least Expensive:  $187.09 (Mississippi)
