NEWTON, Mass. — Police and school administrators are investigating a racially insensitive incident outside Newton North High School.
On Tuesday, a group of students were seen driving through the school parking lot waving a large Confederate flag out a car window.
The video quickly gained attention once it was posted on Facebook by another student who saw it happen.
A letter went home to parents Wednesday and school officials say they have already spoke with the students involved.
The letter read, in part:
At North we strive to celebrate our diversity and create safe and supportive learning environments for all. Therefore, I look forward to working with our students and staff in working to repair and move forward from this incident.
The school's superintendent said they plan to address it as a learning opportunity.
