Striking Stop & Shop workers help Kingston Police nab 2 suspected shoplifters

KINGSTON, Mass. — A group of union Stop & Shop workers who were picketing outside the supermarket chain’s Kingston store Monday helped capture a pair of suspected shoplifters in the act, Kingston Police told Boston 25 News.

Police said Todd Roberts, 50, of Kingston and Amy Sullivan, 52, of Duxbury, left the store around 11:15 a.m. with two carriages full of groceries they never paid for.

The striking workers alerted Kingston police officers who were working a detail at the grocery store.

Police said the officers spoke with the pair, determined they allegedly had about $580 worth of stolen groceries and arrested them.

Roberts and Sullivan are each charged with one count of shoplifting of more than $250. They’re expected to be arraigned on Tuesday in Plymouth District Court.
