State Police: Lawrence man arrested for trafficking fentanyl

LAWRENCE, Mass. — A Lawrence man has been arrested for drug trafficking after police seized over 500 grams of fentanyl.

According to Mass. State Police, they learned that 36-year-old Rosario Lara of Lawrence was trafficking fentanyl.

Working with Lawrence Police Narcotics Unit, FBI gang task force and New Hampshire State Police, they were able to arrange a sale of fentanyl by Lara. Police watched nearby and then showed up to take him into custody. He tried to run away but was quickly apprehended, police say.

He was booked on a charge of trafficking a Class A narcotic over 200 grams.

Approximately 532 grams of fentanyl were secured as evidence.

Lara appeared in court Friday morning where he was ordered $500,000 bail. He's due back in court on March 20 for a probable cause hearing.
