WAREHAM, Mass. — A standoff in a Wareham neighborhood ended peacefully early Thursday after hours of negotiation with a man who claimed to be heavily armed, according to officials.
Neighbors were evacuated from the area near Tomahawk Drive just after 8 Wednesday night as a SWAT team was called in after a man said he would use those weapons, police said.
Wareham Police Acting Chief John Walcek said he talked to the man for hours, eventually convincing him to end the standoff around 2:45 a.m.

Police said he was transported to Tobey Hospital for an evaluation and later to the Wareham police station "where he is facing multiple charges which cannot be disclosed."
No one was injured during the incident.
