Six people rescued from overturned boat in Buzzard’s Bay

BUZZARD'S BAY — Six people were rescued from an overturned boat in Buzzard’s Bay early Sunday morning, according to the Marion Fire Department.

They were alerted of the situation at 7:08 a.m. and were on the water by 7:15 a.m., they said. The boat overturned at the West end of Cape Cod Canal.

Both the Marion Fire Department and the Coast Guard each had one boat in the water to help in the rescue. Marion Fire said the boaters were in the water for about 10 minutes before being rescued.

Marion Fire EMS helped three of the six people rescued. However, they refused treatment.

The Coast Guard helped transport the other three people to Bourne EMS.

Three were brought to Tobey Hospital in Wareham.

The conditions of the six people were not released.
