Men arrested in connection to auto theft ring face a judge

SHARON, Mass. — Two more people were arrested overnight by Sharon police in connection with a string of auto thefts in several Massachusetts communities.

State police say the suspects are part of a group based in Rhode Island that's responsible for stealing cars, tires and rims, in towns south of Boston, including Hanover, Sharon, Braintree and North Attleborough.

A third man was arrested Tuesday night during a joint operation involving police from multiple communities. Police were surveilling a location in Dedham saw two vehicles flee, and later found them after they had crashed in Sharon - on two separate streets, State police said in a news release. The drivers fled the scene on foot and police arrested him.

The three suspects, all from Providence, were identified as Kemoni Mitchell, 21; Joshua Tangui, 26; and Marcos Torres, 24.

On Tuesday night, state and local police continued looking for the other suspects when they found a Jeep Compass parked outside Sharon High School. When police approached the car, it sped off and got onto Route 95 southbound, with police in pursuit.

The Jeep crashed along Route 95 near Exit 4 in North Attleborough, and the driver then ran away on foot, police said. That suspect is still on the run.

State police said just before 6 a.m. Wednesday that they arrested the two additional suspects after an "exhaustive multi-agency search" overnight in Sharon, and they are still looking for one additional suspect.

The three men faced a judge on Wednesday. Mitchell and Torres are both charged with accessory after the fact and their bail was set at $5,000 cash each. Tangui is charged with accessory after the fact, failure to stop for police and operating to endanger. His bail was set at $7,500 cash.

The men are due back in court on Dec. 6 for a probable cause hearing.
