MARSHFIELD, Mass. (AP) - The Massachusetts Center for Native American Awareness is holding its annual Spring Planting Moon Pow-Wow this weekend.

The event Saturday and Sunday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds will feature traditional crafts, dances and cultural demonstrations that celebrate the history of the area's Native Americans.

Anthony Silva, a member of the organization's board, tells The Patriot Ledger one of the goals of the event is to educate the public and let them experience Native American culture, ask questions and learn.

According to the organization, the pow-wow is also an opportunity to thank Mother Earth for the three main food staples planted annually around this time of year- beans, corn and squash - often referred to as the "Three Sisters."
