• Convicted drug dealer gets 5 years on prison

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A man who helped import and distribute hundreds of kilograms of fentanyl and cocaine to Rhode Island and Massachusetts has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Federal prosecutors said Monday that 29-year-old Audi Diaz, of Providence, was also sentenced to three years of probation after pleading guilty in January.

Prosecutors say Diaz worked closely with Ramon Delossantos, of Cumberland, to bring the drugs in from the Dominican Republic before distributing them to mid-level dealers.

They were among more than two dozen people arrested in 2017 when at least 23 kilograms of suspected fentanyl, 11 kilograms of cocaine, 11 kilograms of marijuana and two kilograms of magic mushrooms were seized.

Delossantos pleaded guilty last June and faces sentencing on June 14.
