PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The average price of a gallon of gasoline in Rhode Island has dropped 2 cents in the past week.

AAA Northeast says its weekly price survey found self-serve regular averaging $2.30 per gallon.

AAA says gas prices in Rhode Island are now lower than they were at any point during the past year and a half.

The current price is 3 cents higher than the national average, and it is 31 cents lower than the in-state price a year ago.

AAA says the region continues to have some of the strongest supplies of gasoline anywhere in the country, which has helped keep prices from rising.

AAA found self-serve, regular selling for as low as $2.17 per gallon to as high as $2.49.
