PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A seventh suspect has been arrested in connection with the beating and stabbing death of a Rhode Island man killed after he left a nightclub in Providence's Federal Hill neighborhood.

Police say 28-year-old Anthony Elderkin was among eight men who punched, stabbed and kicked 28-year-old Stephen Cabral, of North Providence, to death June 30. He's charged with felony assault. His attorney couldn't immediately be reached for comment Friday.

The others face murder and other charges.

Police say everyone involved had been at Club Seven earlier that night. The club has been temporarily shut down. Police are seeking to close it permanently.

The owner says his business had nothing to do with the killing.

The Providence City Council is considering a one-year moratorium on issuing new 2 a.m. liquor licenses to Federal Hill businesses.
