Bus monitor suspended, accused of using physical force to restrain student

BOSTON — A school bus monitor is on administrative leave after using physical force to restrain a young boy on a school bus.

According to the boy's family's attorney, the second grader at Dever Elementary School in Dorchester had what they call bullying issues in the past with the bus monitor. The issue apparentl came to head on April 15 with an altercation outside the school.

The boy's sister took cell phone video of the incident.  The video shows the bus attendant pushing the young boy down into the school bus seat and telling him to stay there.

In a statement released Friday morning, Boston Public Schools said Dever Elementary School officials reported the incident to the Department of Children and Families immediately after learning about it.

“Boston Public Schools considers the safety and well being of its students and staff a top priority," the statement said. "The bus attendant has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.”

The Department of Children and Families confirmed to FOX25 that they had received a report and said an investigation was underway.
