Prosecution could rest soon in Aaron Hernandez double murder trial

BOSTON — After a series of testimonies in the Aaron Hernandez trial, the state is expected to rest its case as early as Monday morning.

According to prosecutors, Hernandez shot and killed two men after one of them bumped into him and spilled a drink onto Hernandez.

The coroner testified that one of the victims, Safiro Furtado, likely died seconds to minutes after being shot.  The other victim, Daniel de Abreu, likely died instantly, according to the coroner.

During the trial, prosecutors played a Boston police reenactment video.  The video portrays the way Hernandez’s former best friend, Alexander Bradley, claimed that Hernandez shot him out of the driver’s window.  According to Bradley, Hernandez pulled the trigger on him months later in an attempt to silence him.

The defense attorney, Jose Baez, appeared to be mocking the reenactments during his questioning for Detective Paul Macisaac.

The Hernandez team contends that it was Bradley who killed Safiro Furtado and Daniel de Abreu, not Hernandez.
