Preparations underway for incoming storm

Franklin, Mass. — Franklin - The snow is coming and that means some helpful reminders to get your car ready. Road crews have also been working to get their equipment ready.

Take our word for it. Don’t wait until your cover is covered in snow to try to dig around your car for a snow brush. Our news car’s brush was buried under all of our equipment. We asked several people in Canton if they could find their snow brush and they could not find it. One woman thought she had it in her back seat. “Oh it is not, maybe it is in my trunk. Yes there it is,” the woman said.

Franklin DPW was also in winter snow prep mode. Franklin Highway Grounds Superintendent says the first snow is always the trickiest. “All of a sudden it is like hey it’s coming,” said Rebelo, “if you can stay home, let us do our work. As the afternoon comes the roads will get better, will improve”. Rebelo has also been juggling staffing during the pandemic. “It can happen really quick and you do have some people out but we have been pretty lucky so we can keep the roads safe,” said Rebelo.

And just like the snow removal pros -- being ready for the snow is half the battle so dig out that snow brush. “I usually have it in the back of my car but I don’t have it this year,” one man said.

Another good reminder is to keep your cell phone charged up and have some extra warm clothes. And it never hurts to have something to eat and drink close by in case you do get into any sort of trouble or break down.
