MANCHESTER, N.H. - Coffee with Candidates is giving our viewers different insight into the people asking for your vote.

Our Coffee with Candidates series continues with a conversation with U.S. Senator From New Jersey Cory Booker.

The Democrat filed the first in the nation primary in New Hampshire. But he says this race isn’t about a position to him. It's about purpose.

Booker started his political career as a city councilor then went on to be elected mayor of Newark, then Senator. His campaign has focused largely on getting the nastiness out of politics and focusing instead on uniting Americans regardless of their backgrounds.

He chatted with Boston 25 News anchor Kerry Kavanaugh on board his Winnebago, which he’s using as he campaigns across the granite state.

He spoke fondly of his parents and the lessons they imparted to him that he says helped shape his campaign.
