Police: Teen arrested in connection to fatal hit-and-run in Methuen

METHUEN, Mass. — Police in Methuen have announced that they have arrested and charged a 16-year-old in connection to a hit-and-run crash that killed a local man in mid-October.

Timothy Lafferty, 57, was killed after being hit by a car on Jackson Street just in front of his home back on the night of October 14.

That teen is facing a number of charges following the fatal incident:

  • Manslaughter
  • Operating Recklessly Causing the Death of Another
  • Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Collision Causing the Death of Another
  • 2 counts of Witness Interference/Intimidation
  • Unlicensed Operation
  • Speeding

Police were able to determine that the victim had been allegedly struck and killed by a white 2011 Acura Infinity M37. After finding the car, officials were able to locate the teen, who was placed under arrest on Monday.

That male teen also allegedly made verbal threats against a witness, police say. He will be arraigned Tuesday in Lawrence Juvenile Court.
