METHUEN, Mass. — Police in Methuen have announced that they have arrested and charged a 16-year-old in connection to a hit-and-run crash that killed a local man in mid-October.
Timothy Lafferty, 57, was killed after being hit by a car on Jackson Street just in front of his home back on the night of October 14.

That teen is facing a number of charges following the fatal incident:
- Manslaughter
- Operating Recklessly Causing the Death of Another
- Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Collision Causing the Death of Another
- 2 counts of Witness Interference/Intimidation
- Unlicensed Operation
- Speeding
Police were able to determine that the victim had been allegedly struck and killed by a white 2011 Acura Infinity M37. After finding the car, officials were able to locate the teen, who was placed under arrest on Monday.
Police determined the teen had allegedly taken the car from its owner's home on Brook Street and onto Jackson Street, where he allegedly struck 57-year-old Tim Lafferty. The teen then allegedly returned the car with front end damage. The car's owner and the teen know each other.

That male teen also allegedly made verbal threats against a witness, police say. He will be arraigned Tuesday in Lawrence Juvenile Court.
