Police: Man smashes his way into neighbor's home, threatens to kill him

WINCHENDON, Mass. — Police in Winchendon say they have arrested a man who smashed his way into a home and then threatened to kill the homeowner.

On Monday evening, just before 5 p.m., police responded to a reported breaking and entering on Teel Road. Police say 24-year-old Anthony Buffum walked away from his group home and walked next door to a neighbor's home. He then smashed terra cotta pots in the yard and began smashing the front door before he was confronted by the homeowner.

Police say Buffum then threatened to kill the homeowner.

A staff member of the group home found Buffum in the neighbor's yard after he heard items breaking.

Buffum was arrested and charged with breaking and entering in the daytime to commit a felony, vandalizing property, and threat to commit a crime. He was held on $500 cash bail overnight and was arraigned on Tuesday.
