Police investigating after woman dies in East Boston

BOSTON — Boston police are investigating after a woman died in an East Boston garage Wednesday.

Just before 9 a.m., construction workers discovered a woman suffering traumatic injuries near 54 Princeton Street.

Officers said they found a woman in her early 20s inside a garage and her death is very suspicious.

"I can't go into details, it's a very active investigation, but again, the circumstances that we saw there lead us to believe that it's very suspicious at this point in time," said Boston Police Superintendent Bernie O'Rourke.

Evidence technicians combed through a large dumpster on Princeton Street, looking for clues.

A neighbor who lives next door told FOX25's Jason Law she went to bed at 10 p.m. the night before and didn't hear anything during the night.

Police said they don't believe she was dumped in the garage and don't think she was in there for an extended period of time.

“Things have been bad here recently.  There’s been a lot of shootings stabbings involving young kids and gangs and I'm shocked that this happened here,” neighbor Bob Stubblebine said.

Detectives said they had trouble identifying the woman because of the shape she was in. Her body was removed Wednesday night around 7 p.m.

"Just to see this happen, it makes you scared to let your kid out," Vanessa Flyer said. She has a child who goes to a school nearby.

O'Rourke said the attached home is under renovation and the garage was full of construction equipment; FOX25 reached out to the home owner, but he did not return our messages.

A neighbor said that investigators are reviewing her surveillance cameras for clues.
