Police are investigating after a body was found in the Connecticut River in West Springfield, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Mass. State Police tweeted about the incident Sunday morning, saying troopers and the Mass. State Police Air Wing were assisting the West Springfield Fire Department and West Springfield Police in their search for the man.

Police believe the man ended up in the river after a car crash around 7 a.m. Sunday, and said he had reportedly last been seen in the water between the railway bridge and the Memorial Bridge in West Springfield.

Police confirmed that the man's body was found in the river by the Mass. State Police dive team, and said the investigation would be continued by West Springfield Police and the Hampden County District Attorney's Office.
