Plane makes emergency landing in Rhode Island neighborhood

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. — A small plane landed right in the middle of a Rhode Island neighborhood on Saturday afternoon. The pilot of that airplane was amazingly able to walk away without injury and with very little damage to the plane.

A man caught the scene on video when the plane was seen flying very low to the ground. The pilot was able to land the plane safely without hitting anything or anyone in the neighborhood.

With the fog coming in quickly on Saturday, Rhode Island State Police say the pilot of the small propeller plane was forced to make an emergency landing on Shannon Road in South Kingstown.

The aircraft is a Piper PA-25, used to tow advertising banners.

The FAA told Boston 25 News that they are investigating. They added that the pilot was trying to land at nearby Westerly State Airport.

The pilot was the only one on board and was not hurt – a miracle according to neighbors.
